Chinese Celebrities with Tattoos: A Growing Trend

Over the past decade, tattoos have become increasingly popular in China, particularly among celebrities. Once considered taboo and associated with criminal activity, tattoos are now seen as a form of self-expression and a way to stand out in a crowded entertainment industry.

The Rise of Tattoo Culture in China

Tattooing has a long history in China, dating back to the Neolithic period. However, it wasn’t until the 20th century that tattoos became widely stigmatized. During the Cultural Revolution, tattoos were associated with counter-revolutionary elements and were often forcibly removed.

In recent years, attitudes towards tattoos have shifted as China becomes more globalized and open-minded. Younger generations are more accepting of tattoos and see them as a way to express their individuality. This is reflected in the growing number of Chinese celebrities who have tattoos.
