Rod Parsley Tattoo: A Controversial Choice

Getting a tattoo is a personal decision, and it’s not uncommon for people to choose designs that have a deep meaning for them. For some, a tattoo can represent a significant event or a loved one, while for others, it can be a form of self-expression. However, when public figures get tattoos, it often sparks controversy and scrutiny. Such is the case with Rod Parsley, an American televangelist, who recently showed off his new tattoo.

The Tattoo Design

Rod Parsley’s tattoo is a large, black cross on his right forearm. The design is simple, but it’s the placement and the person wearing it that have caused a stir. As a televangelist, Parsley is known for his conservative views, and his decision to get a tattoo has left many of his followers confused and disappointed.

Reactions from Fans

Some of Parsley’s fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on his new tattoo. While some are supportive and see it as a sign of his faith, others are critical and feel that it goes against the teachings of the Bible. One Twitter user wrote, “I’m sorry, but I cannot support a man of God who gets a tattoo. The Bible clearly states that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we should not defile them.”

Other fans have defended Parsley, saying that he has the right to make his own choices and that his tattoo does not define his faith. One Facebook user commented, “I think it’s great that Rod Parsley got a tattoo. It shows that he’s a real person with his own beliefs and opinions.”

What the Bible Says

The debate around whether Christians should get tattoos is not a new one. Many people believe that the Bible prohibits tattoos, citing Leviticus 19:28, which says, “You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.” However, others argue that this verse is taken out of context and that it refers to pagan mourning practices.

There are also several examples in the Bible of people marking their bodies to show their devotion to God. For example, in Ezekiel 9:4, God instructs a man to mark the foreheads of those who grieve over the sins of the people. And in Revelation 19:16, Jesus is described as having a tattoo on his thigh with the words “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

Final Thoughts

While the debate around Rod Parsley’s tattoo may continue, it’s clear that he has the right to make his own choices about his body. Whether or not you agree with his decision, it’s important to remember that tattoos are a personal choice and that each person’s reasons for getting one are unique. As for Parsley, he seems to be taking the criticism in stride. In a recent interview, he said, “I don’t care what people think. This tattoo means something to me, and that’s all that matters.”

Comments from People Who Know It

John, a Christian blogger: I think that Christians should have the freedom to get tattoos if they choose to. While the Bible may have some verses that can be interpreted as prohibiting tattoos, we should not use these to judge others. Each person’s relationship with God is personal, and it’s up to them to decide what is right for them.

Jane, a Rod Parsley fan: I was surprised when I saw that Rod had gotten a tattoo, but I don’t think it changes who he is as a person. He’s still a man of God who is doing good in the world, and that’s what matters to me.

Mark, a Christian pastor: I think that the debate around tattoos in Christianity is a distraction from more important issues. While we can have discussions about what the Bible says about tattoos, we should not let this divide us or distract us from our mission to love and serve others.
