Tattoo Schools in Texas: A Guide for Aspiring Tattoo Artists

Introduction

Tattooing has become increasingly popular over the years as a form of self-expression. If you have a passion for art and want to turn it into a career, you may be considering attending a tattoo school in Texas. In this article, we’ll discuss the different tattoo schools in Texas, the curriculum they offer, and what you can expect as a student.

Types of Tattoo Schools in Texas

There are two types of tattoo schools in Texas: licensed and unlicensed. Licensed schools are regulated by the Texas Department of State Health Services, and they provide a comprehensive curriculum that covers tattooing, sterilization, and bloodborne pathogens. Unlicensed schools, on the other hand, may not adhere to these health and safety standards, and they may not offer a complete curriculum.

Licensed Tattoo Schools in Texas

Some of the licensed tattoo schools in Texas include Texas Tattoo Academy, Texas Body Art School, and American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics. These schools offer a variety of courses that cover the basics of tattooing, as well as more advanced techniques like shading, color theory, and portrait tattooing. They also provide hands-on training with experienced tattoo artists, which can help you develop your skills and build your portfolio.

Unlicensed Tattoo Schools in Texas

Unlicensed tattoo schools in Texas are not regulated by the state, so it’s important to do your research before enrolling in one. These schools may offer shorter courses or workshops that focus on specific techniques, but they may not provide comprehensive training in health and safety practices. Additionally, unlicensed schools may not have experienced instructors, which can limit your ability to learn and grow as a tattoo artist.

What to Look for in a Tattoo School

When choosing a tattoo school in Texas, there are a few things to consider. First, make sure the school is licensed by the state and adheres to health and safety standards. Second, look for a school that offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of tattooing. Finally, consider the experience and qualifications of the instructors, as well as the cost and location of the school.

Comments from People Who Know It

I now have a successful career as a tattoo artist thanks to the training I received at TTA.” – Sarah F. “I went to an unlicensed tattoo school in Texas and it was a complete waste of money. The instructors didn’t know what they were doing, and I didn’t learn anything useful.
