Introduction

Fans of the Harry Potter series are no strangers to the iconic character, Sirius Black. His mysterious and rebellious nature made him a fan favorite, and his tattoos only added to his allure. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the tattoos on Sirius Black’s hand and what they symbolize.

The Tattoos

Sirius Black had two tattoos on his hand: one of a hippogriff and the other of the phrase “I must not tell lies.” The hippogriff tattoo was a symbol of his loyalty to his friend, James Potter, and their shared love of flying. The phrase “I must not tell lies” was a reminder of the punishment he received at Hogwarts, where he was forced to write the phrase repeatedly with a cursed quill.

The Symbolism

The hippogriff tattoo represented Sirius Black’s loyalty and bravery. Hippogriffs are known for their fierce loyalty and their ability to soar to great heights. In the Harry Potter series, they are also a symbol of freedom and rebellion. The phrase tattoo, on the other hand, represented Sirius Black’s rebellious nature and his determination to stand up against injustice.
