The Story Behind Craig Ferguson’s “Join or Die” Tattoo

Craig Ferguson, the former host of The Late Late Show, is known for his quirky personality and sense of humor. But he’s also known for something else – his “Join or Die” tattoo.

What is “Join or Die”?

“Join or Die” is a political cartoon created by Benjamin Franklin in 1754. The cartoon depicts a snake cut into eight pieces, with each piece representing a British colony in America. The message was clear – if the colonies didn’t unite against the British, they would be defeated. The cartoon became a symbol of American unity and patriotism during the Revolutionary War.

Why Did Craig Ferguson Get the Tattoo?

Craig Ferguson has always been a fan of American history, and the “Join or Die” cartoon in particular. He has said that the tattoo represents his love for America and his belief in the importance of unity. In an interview with Parade magazine, he said, “I’m a big believer in the United States of America. I think it’s a great country, and I think we need to stick together.”

What Does the Tattoo Look Like?

The tattoo is located on Craig Ferguson’s right forearm. It features the “Join or Die” snake, along with the words “Join or Die” in bold, black letters. The design is simple, but powerful.

What Do People Think About the Tattoo?

The tattoo has been the subject of much discussion and speculation. Some people love it, and see it as a symbol of American pride and unity. Others think it’s a bit cheesy, or just plain odd. Here are a few comments from people who know about the tattoo:

• “I think it’s a cool tattoo. Craig Ferguson is a great guy, and I like that he’s proud of his American heritage.” – John, 32

Can You Get a “Join or Die” Tattoo?

If you’re a fan of the “Join or Die” cartoon, or just like the idea of a patriotic tattoo, you might be thinking about getting a “Join or Die” tattoo of your own. Before you do, however, it’s important to consider a few things:

• The tattoo is quite visible, so make sure you’re comfortable with that before getting it.
• Think about what the tattoo means to you, and whether you’re comfortable with its historical significance.
• Make sure you choose a skilled tattoo artist who can create a design that you’ll be happy with for years to come.

Conclusion

Craig Ferguson’s “Join or Die” tattoo is a symbol of his love for America and his belief in the importance of unity. While some people love the tattoo and see it as a powerful statement, others think it’s a bit odd. If you’re considering getting a “Join or Die” tattoo of your own, make sure you think carefully about the design, its meaning, and its visibility.
