Introduction: What is an Old Rugged Cross Tattoo?

An Old Rugged Cross tattoo is a design that features a cross that appears old or weathered. The cross is usually depicted with a rough texture, cracks, and other signs of age. The tattoo may also include other elements such as flowers, vines, or religious symbols.

The Meaning Behind an Old Rugged Cross Tattoo

An Old Rugged Cross tattoo is often chosen by those who want to display their faith and devotion to Christianity. The design is a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross and the hope and redemption that come from his death and resurrection.

The rough texture and weathered appearance of the cross can also represent the trials and struggles that believers face in their lives. Just as the cross endured through time and hardship, so too can people endure through their own challenges with the help of their faith.

The History of the Old Rugged Cross

The Old Rugged Cross is a hymn written by George Bennard in 1913. The song quickly became popular and has since been recorded by many artists. The lyrics describe the writer’s love for the cross where Jesus died and the hope and peace that comes from it. The hymn has become a staple in many Christian churches and has inspired many people to get an Old Rugged Cross tattoo.
