What is a Trilobite?

A trilobite is an extinct marine arthropod that lived over 500 million years ago. It had a hard exoskeleton, a segmented body, and three lobes – hence the name “trilobite”. These creatures were incredibly diverse, with over 20,000 species known to exist during their time on Earth. They were also one of the earliest complex organisms, making them an important part of the fossil record.
